Would you do a big lap of Australia in a camper? Many caravanners would say HELL NO! However, more and more families are heading off in a camper as they seek the roads less travelled and the places and epic camps that a big caravan won’t get to. Andrea, Tim and their three cherubs – Red Dirt Wanderers – are off with their camper trailer and we can’t wait to see where they get to… Real Stories from Real Families…
Travel does not need to be epic- it does not need to conquer or defeat. It is not how far you go and how long you go for. Travel is more than just the seeing of sights- it is a change that goes on, in the deep and permanent, in the ideas of living.
Most of us dream about escaping our regular jobs, perhaps the rut, the same day to day routine of life. And while our jobs fill our pockets, it is adventures that fill our lives. And while our money will return, our time won’t.
So with all of this in mind, I choose to use this time so precious, to fill my soul and heart. I am investing in us- our family and myself. It will expand our minds and fill the gaps.
Because when I’m 85, on my death bed, I guarantee I won’t be thinking about the twenty pairs of designer shoes, the beautifully designed home or the 50 inch television I owned. I will think about the moments that made me feel truly alive. The times I spent exploring with my girls, the beautiful people I have met and shared my life with. And at the very end, those memories will be the only valuable possessions I own.
J.R.R Tolkien prescribes “All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.” So, whatever you choose, you open yourself up to new opportunities, a chance to colour your experience of life itself.
Our trip will create a bond, a sense of belonging, a respect of our land and a pursuit of not finding myself but remembering who I’ve been all along.
And at the end of the day, my feet will be dirty, hair will be messy and my eyes will be sparkling.
Thank you for joining us on our adventure. We are Tim and Andrea Campbell, travelling this amazing country with our three girls, Grace (8), Audrey (6) and Eden (3). At home, we are both school teachers and Andrea is a Marriage Celebrant. We have worked hard and saved, saved, saved for this trip. We are schooling our girls at our own pace, nothing too structured as we know the life skills they learn we be the most valuable learning they will do. This trip will be a 12 month journey full of fun and laughter, challenges and no doubt epic fails and hopefully we can inspire others to follow their own dreams and set their own goals in life….
