Like many of you, we had heard plenty about the RACV Cobram Resort. It’s always being touted as one of the ‘Best in Australia’ with people flocking to it from across the country to experience all it has to offer. So, when the chance came for us, the Caravanning with Kids family, to visit this acclaimed RACV park, of course we were excited!
We also questioned whether it would live up to expectation and surely hoped it would after all the hype we’d heard.
So, here’s the verdict…. they don’t call this place a ‘resort’ for nothing! A resort is what it is. 10 acres of absolutely everything you could think of and more for a dream family holiday. Neat as a pin and with plenty to offer we didn’t even know where to begin with so much to do at our disposal!
The resort is immaculately kept and has had continuous improvements over the years. The sites are large with concrete pads and in an orderly, spacious layout. There’s lots of trees providing plenty of shade and a lovely green corridor throughout. Even the toilet blocks are 5-star! My girls were absolutely delighted with the day spa-esque relaxing music that is piped through the bathrooms and this never failed to raise a five-year-old giggle every time we went to the loo!
There is an onsite Poolside Café which is open year-round and we definitely felt it’s lure for a big, hot breakfast! With the feel of a true coffee shop (this is no kiosk!) we thoroughly enjoyed this treat and even more so that we only needed to ‘stroll’ to get there! The whole experience was great, the weather was warm and sunny, the pool was glistening, service friendly and the eggs benedict delicious! A wonderful way to start the day!
Despite there being plenty to do in the local area such as exploring the Murray, checking out Cactus Country, visiting award winning wineries, cruising Lake Mulwala or visiting historic Byramine Homestead, we stayed in the park and shared some great family time. We took a long walk while the kids scooted safely on concrete paths and really appreciated what a great set up they have for kids with bikes or wheels! (If you don’t have bikes with you they can be hired, or you can hire go-karts for the whole family!)
The huge playground and shaded jumping pillow were given a thorough work-out and then we headed to the indoor heated pool and spa. The outdoor pool (yes there is two pools!) had a shallow, splash area for small children and plenty of seating for parents who’d like to relax while supervising. There’s also tennis, a full-size basketball court, gym and a huge games room – we were so busy enjoying the activities we didn’t have time to blink!
The grounds are beautifully maintained but what was most impressive to me was the genuine amount of space that RACV Cobram Resort offers. Whilst other parks might feel squashy or that you’re being encroached upon this one celebrates grassy areas and open spaces and the overall feel is tranquil because of this. It’s a real holiday park design success. One of the other great benefits of this resort is that the caravan and camping sites are pet friendly, meaning you can bring your dogs (if kept on a leash) with you! Some of the cabins will also become pet friendly by the middle of 2020.
Despite being a larger park, the staff were friendly and helpful and we liked the centralisation of all the facilities in one spot. So, what can we say? RACV Cobram Resort is true caravan luxury. This ‘pamper park’ surpassed its reputation and expectations – we’ll be back again one day soon!
